About Shaily
I am a qualified teacher (QTS) with a background in Architecture (B.Arch.) and extensive experience teaching and tutoring GCSE and A-Level Maths. My academic and professional journey has given me a strong foundation in logical thinking, problem-solving, and clear communication — skills that are essential for success in Maths.
I chose to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping students understand topics they once found difficult and watching their confidence grow. Many students come to me feeling unsure or anxious about Maths — my role is to help them feel supported, capable, and in control of their learning.
I am known for being patient, calm, and approachable, and I take time to understand how each student learns best. I believe that with the right guidance and encouragement, every student can make progress — whether the goal is to build confidence, close gaps in understanding, or aim for higher grades.
Parents can be assured that I teach in a structured, professional, and supportive manner, with a clear focus on the curriculum and exam expectations. I take pride in being reliable, well-prepared, and committed to each student's success.
I also currently teach GCSE and A-Level Maths at an adult education college, working with mature students returning to education — whether for career changes, university access courses, or personal development. This experience has made me even more adaptable as a tutor, comfortable working with learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Topics Covered
I teach across Secondary, GCSE, A-Level, and adult learners, covering the full curriculum. Here's an overview of what we work on at each level.
Teaching Approach
Each lesson is carefully planned around the curriculum and tailored to the individual student. I focus on building strong foundations first, then developing problem-solving skills and exam technique, so students feel prepared and in control.
Every lesson starts with a short review of previous topics to strengthen retention and build connections between concepts.
Clear explanations using visual methods and worked examples, followed by guided practice to build confidence before working independently.
Apply learning through exam-style questions to improve accuracy and timing, with constructive feedback and clear next steps.
Pricing
All sessions are online. The first 30-minute introductory lesson is completely free — no obligation, just a chance to see if we're the right fit.
Ongoing small group sessions for students at the same level. Learn together, stay motivated, and benefit from a structured weekly programme — at a lower cost per student.
Focused revision courses during half-terms, Easter, and summer holidays. Perfect for catching up, reinforcing key topics, or intensive exam preparation.
