1. About These Terms
These terms govern your use of the tutoring services provided by Maths with Shaily, a trading name of Talvika Ltd (Company No. 17291434) ("we", "us", "our"). By booking a lesson or purchasing a lesson pack, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully before making a booking.

2. Services
We provide private online maths tutoring for GCSE, A-Level, and adult learners. Sessions are delivered 1:1 or in small groups via Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. We also offer:
- Single lessons (1 hour)
- Lesson packs (5 or 10 sessions)
- Live 6-week small group courses (maximum 10 students per course)
- A free 30-minute introductory lesson (one per student, no obligation)
3. Booking and Payment
Lessons and lesson packs can be booked by contacting us via the website or by purchasing directly through our Stripe payment links. All prices are listed in GBP (£). Talvika Ltd is not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged on our services.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store or have access to your card details. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Lesson packs (5 or 10 sessions) are paid upfront. Sessions within a pack should be used within 3 months of purchase unless otherwise agreed.
4. Scheduling
Lesson times are agreed between the tutor and the student (or parent/guardian). We aim to offer regular weekly slots where possible. Scheduling changes can be made by mutual agreement with reasonable notice.
5. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
Cancellation by the Student / Parent
We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both parties:
Single Lessons
- More than 24 hours' notice: The lesson can be rescheduled at no charge, or a full refund will be issued.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: The lesson will be charged at 50% of the lesson fee. The remaining 50% can be refunded or credited toward a future lesson.
- No-show (no notice): The full lesson fee will be charged. No refund will be issued.
Lesson Packs (5 or 10 Sessions)
- Individual sessions within a pack follow the same 24-hour cancellation policy above.
- Full pack cancellation before any sessions are used: A full refund will be issued.
- Partial pack cancellation (some sessions used): The sessions already taken are charged at the standard single-lesson rate (£25), not the discounted pack rate, and the balance of what you paid is refunded. The charge for taken sessions is capped at the amount you originally paid, so cancelling a pack will never result in an extra charge — only a refund or, at most, nothing further owed. For example, on a 10-pack (£210) with 4 sessions used, the refund would be £210 − (4 × £25) = £110. Once the value of sessions taken reaches the amount paid (around 8–9 sessions on a 10-pack), the charge is capped at that amount and no refund is due.
Small Group / Batch Sessions

Cancellation by the Tutor
If we need to cancel a lesson, we will give as much notice as possible and offer a rescheduled session or full refund. If we cancel a lesson with less than 24 hours' notice, you will receive a complimentary additional 15 minutes added to your next session as a goodwill gesture.
How to Cancel or Reschedule
To cancel or reschedule a lesson, please contact us as early as possible by email at maths@talvika.com or by the messaging method agreed with your tutor. Cancellation notice is counted from the time we receive your message.
6. Group Courses
This section applies to our live 6-week group courses (currently the GCSE Higher Booster and the A-Level Launchpad). Where it differs from the general terms above, this section applies.
Booking & payment
A place is secured by paying the full course fee upfront via Stripe. Fees: GCSE 6-week course £60; A-Level 6-week course £90.
Minimum numbers
Each course runs only if it reaches a minimum of 6 paying students. If a course does not reach the minimum, or is cancelled by us for any reason, you receive a full refund of all fees paid.
Scholarship places
A limited number of free scholarship places are offered per course. A scholarship place is secured with a small refundable commitment deposit (GCSE £10 / A-Level £15), returned in full once the student has attended at least 5 of the 6 sessions. The deposit is not returned for no-shows, or if fewer than 5 sessions are attended, for any reason.
Missed sessions & no-shows
Fees and deposits are non-refundable for any session a student does not attend, for any reason. Sessions cannot be carried over, rescheduled, or swapped.
Once the course starts
After the course has begun, course fees are non-refundable.
Cooling-off consent
Because courses begin shortly after booking, by completing your booking you agree the course starts within the 14-day cancellation period and consent to it beginning, waiving your right to cancel for sessions already delivered. This does not affect your right to a full refund if we cancel the course.

All group courses are provided by Talvika Ltd (Company No. 17291434).
7. Refunds
Refunds will be processed via the original payment method (Stripe) and will typically appear in your account within 5–10 working days. If you believe a refund is due, please contact us at maths@talvika.com.
8. Free Introductory Lesson
We offer one free 30-minute introductory lesson per student. This session is an opportunity to assess the student's needs and determine suitability. There is no obligation to continue after this session. This offer cannot be combined with other discounts or offers.
9. Online Lesson Requirements
All 1:1 lessons are delivered online. To participate, students will need:
- A stable internet connection
- A device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, or computer)
- A quiet environment suitable for learning
- Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams installed (all free to download)
We are not responsible for technical issues on the student's side. If a technical issue on our side prevents a lesson from being delivered, the session will be rescheduled at no charge.
10. Safeguarding
The safety of students is our priority. Shaily holds a current enhanced DBS check. All online sessions involving children under 18 should have a parent or guardian aware that the session is taking place. We follow safeguarding best practices in line with UK guidance for private tutors.
Note for parents: While we do not require a parent to be present during every session, we recommend that parents of younger students remain nearby and that the lesson takes place in a shared/open area of the home.
11. Intellectual Property
All learning materials, worksheets, and resources provided by Maths with Shaily are for the personal use of the student only. They may not be redistributed, shared publicly, or used for commercial purposes without written permission.
The content of this website, including its text, course outlines and syllabuses, graphics, and the Maths with Shaily name and logo, is owned by Talvika Ltd and protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You are welcome to link to our pages and to share course details for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as recommending us to another family. Otherwise, no part of it may be copied, reproduced, adapted, or republished, in whole or in part, without our written permission.
12. Liability
Maths with Shaily provides tutoring to supplement school education. We do not guarantee specific exam results or grades. While we are committed to supporting each student's progress, academic outcomes depend on many factors including the student's effort, attendance, and engagement.
Our total liability in connection with any claim arising from or related to our services shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 3 months preceding the claim.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us at maths@talvika.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 48 hours and aim to resolve it within 14 days.
14. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify existing clients of any material changes by email.
